I am a cider and wine maker with a background in agro-ecological research. As a research technician I loved exporing the hidden complexity of streams and soil, as well as how they influence the food and environment we experience every day. I now apply this experience to the more artistic (and delicious!) pursuit of cider production. Long term, I plan to pursue my own cider operation on the West Coast, and I am excited to learn as much as I can about high-quality fermentation while living here in the Finger Lakes.
Work
South Hill Cider
Ithaca, NY May 2026 - Current
I am now working in the cellar and orchards South hill cider, trying to learn the process of cider making from soil to glass. You can also find me serving tastings at the Ithaca Farmer's Market on Sundays when in season.
Finger Lakes Cider House
Ithaca, NY April 2026 - June 2026
In addition to my work with South Hill, I briefly worked in the taproom and cider production at Finger Lakes Cider House. It has been exciting to work with my two favorite producers in the area, and get inspiration for small-scale, sustainable cider cider making.
Cornell University
Ithaca, NY Jan 2024 - Jan 2026
I worked in Clare Casteel's lab and my main project focused on the effect of compost on plant defenses. This involed working with a network of New York, organic farmers and running experiments with kale grown in different field soil microbiomes and fertilizer treatments to observe the effects on plant chemistry and aphids performance.
University of Portland
Ithaca, NY Jan 2024 - Jan 2026
My work in college was mostly focused on wetland restorations and stream health assesment. I helped design a protocol for DNA sequencing of stream algae for water quality assesment, and worked on a project evaluating the effects of restoration efforts in a wetland near campus. Sharing a lab with a microbiology research group also drew me into a fascination with soil ecology.
Earthwise Landscaping
Ashland, OR 2019 and 2020 Summers
In the summers after my senior year of highschool and freshman year of college, I worked to build and maintain ecologically mindful gardens wilder spaces in the Rogue Valley.
Art
My work has mostly been in printmaking, painting, fiber arts, and photography. I take my inspiration from the ecosystems I live, work, and travel in and I have enjoyed exploring forests and wetlands of central NY in the past few years.
